Richard is one of the two Parish Councillors for the Romley area. He was born and brought up in the area with deep family ties to the parish and has been a parish councillor for many years, most recently elected unopposed in the May 2025 elections. He is chair of the Street Lighting Committee and a member of the Staffing, Play Area and Events and Communication committees. He is also a trustee of the local charity Whittalls Meadow Trust.
